Design Unit

Pupils will learn about the design process using a range of materials and ideas. There a 2 mini projects in this unit of work along with research on designers

 

2D surface design

  • Repeat pattern exploring shape and colour
  • Develop into surface design for Skateboard, furniture, clothing or interior
  • Sketchbook research & development work
  • Evaluation of work

 

3D design

  • Analysing & manipulating 3D shape
  • Develop into design for a Mask / headpiece
  • Sketchbook research & development work
  • Evaluation of work

 

Expressive Unit

Pupils will develop skills and techniques using a range of materials. There are 2 mini projects in this unit along with research on artists

 

Printmaking

  • Observational drawings & studies, experimenting with mark-making
  • Experimenting with printing techniques and processes
  • Developing compositions & ideas
  • Sketchbook research & development work
  • Evaluation of work

 

Drawing & Painting

  • Observational drawings & studies
  • Experimentation with materials
  • Techniques & application
  • Developing compositions & ideas
  • Sketchbook research & development work
  • Evaluation of work

 

Art & Design studies

Pupils will research the work of different artists and designers and will use this information to inform their practical work. There will be an Art and Design studies mini exam/test/Nab

 

Design studies

  • Looking at designers use of materials, techniques & the design process

 

Expressive studies

  • Looking at artists’ styles & techniques, use of materials & and influences
